TrafCam for TomTom Go is now available, bringing a professional speed
camera location database and warning system to this popular range of personal
navigation device.
When a camera is within your chosen warning range, TrafCam will make a sound
to alert you. It will also display an informative message in the top corner of the
screen, and draw an icon on the map display. Information shown includes the camera type,
speed limit, road name and distance.
Key Features
Professionally-maintained camera location database
Direction-sensitive warnings, to help reduce false alarms
Speed-sensitive warnings, to help reduce false alarms
Easy-to-use installer routine downloads and configures the software
In this screen, the icon shows the position
of the camera, and its speed limit (40mph), and the message shows the camera speed limit, the
camera type (Gatso), distance to camera (0.1 miles) and the road name (A51). The flashing message
will be on the screen from the point where the camera is first found, to just after the camera
has been passed.
The majority of speed cameras in our database include speed limit and "direction of relevance"
information, which means that you can configure TrafCam to remain silent if you are not exceeding the speed limit
for the camera, or if the camera is not relevant to the direction you are travelling in. This helps to reduce false
alarms.
Installation, updating and user settings are controlled by an easy-to-use program
that runs on a Microsoft Windows PC. This program will handle all aspects of downloading
the program, database, icons and sound files from our server and installing them on your
TomTom Go. For now it will also control user settings such as warning range. You'll need a
Windows PC and an Internet connection for this to work.
Compatibility
We have tested TrafCam on the Go 300, Go 510 and Go 710, and we believe that it should work
without problems on all of the TomTom Go range. Subscribers have tested on various other models
including the One, OneXL and Rider, and reported that it works correctly. Your device does
need to be running at least version 6 of the navigation software - earlier
versions don't properly support the interaction with TrafCam.
Please note TrafCam for TomTom Go will only work on TomTom devices - if you have
something similar such as a Garmin Nuvi, Navman iCN, or other personal navigation device, TrafCam
for TomTom Go will not work. It probably won't even install.
TrafCam is installed using our "Control Centre" application which runs on a standard
Windows PC. It can be downloaded from here and
installed on your PC. Using the Control Centre, you can download the free trial version of
TrafCam to your Tom Tom Go, edit the user settings, and check for updates. You can download
the manual in PDF format which covers how to
install the control centre and how TrafCam works on your TomTom Go. If you download an updated
version of the control centre, you must uninstall the previous version before you install
the new one.
If you have problems with the free trial version of TrafCam for TomTom Go, please send us
an email to info@trafcam.com and we'll get back to you as
soon as we can.
